Project: Green Dot Public Schools
Location: Memphis, TN.
Green Dot Public Schools were looking to open up a third High School in the Memphis area for Grades 9 and 10. Innovative Modular Solutions was contacted to complete a permanent addition for Bluff City High School, in two phases. They were able to utilize the property across the street from one of their existing schools (Kirby Middle School). Although the existing property had a church, it was not conducive to convert the building into an Educational Building with classrooms. However, they were able to utilize the existing church building for their administration area. Since they wanted to open up Bluff City Charter High School in time for the start of the 2017 school year, they chose modular construction for their classroom space solution.
IMS was contacted to evaluate whether modular construction could provide the solution for the client’s needs. IMS went to work creating a plan for this project to be done in a two phase approach. Not only did IMS and Green Dot Public Schools develop a great space design but also added upgrades during the Phase II process to include a wider 11 ft. corridor, painted drywall interior walls, ceramic tile in the multi-stall restrooms and touch-less plumbing fixtures throughout. IMS and the client’s general contractor also were conscientious of classes that were being held during the Phase II construction. Phase I of the project was started in June of 2017 and Phase II began March of 2018. Both phases comprised of a total of 17,952 sq.ft with 22 modules, completed on time and on budget.
